Male vs. Female
Are you undecided about adopting a male puppy? The stereotypes for males, such as hiking of the leg to mark territory, humping on things, etc... are common reasons why most people do not adopt a male. Here are a few opinions of our experience that might help you in your decision making. If you neuter a male between 4 to 6 months, you would remove the normal male hormonal tendencies as mentioned above. The desirable traits would be an even more obedient and affectionate male, females can be a bit more temperamental. A female will love you but a male will be in love with you. Males tend to be more playful even in their elder years.
From our own experience, males that have been neutered early tend to potty train easier and quicker and they will tend to squat like females. Some of the doggy squabbles in the house and yard are usually among the females. Our males rarely squabble, because they are to busy playing with each other. Unless you spay your female puppy she will come into heat every 6 months and bring the mess that comes with it for 3 weeks. A female in heat can be very moody and will attract males from blocks away. If not properly attended to a female can breed with several different males. It is cheaper to neuter than to spay and recovery time is quicker, also the price for male puppies
are usually cheaper to purchase. Don't get us wrong, females make excellent pets, but males make excellent pets too.
We spend every day with our puppies and every puppy has a different personality regardless of their sex. So when you decide to choose your life long companion don't let Gender stand in your way. Pick from your heart and you won't be disappointed.
